Robert
Alonso, President & CEO, Yaupon Therapeutics, Inc. is a seasoned executive with 15 years of domestic and
international pharmaceutical experience in licensing, drug development
and marketing. He has held management positions for large multi-nationals
such as Merck and Hofmann La Roche as well as biotech start-ups with
Layton Bioscience. Mr. Alonso has run a $200 million infectious disease
franchise and he has closed over 15 licensing deals. Mr. Alonso has an
MBA from F.W. Olin Graduate School at Babson College.
David
Drahms - Vice President, Osage Ventures David
began his career at Teradyne, Inc., a Boston-based manufacturer of
semiconductor test equipment, where he was a mechanical engineer before
becoming a project manager. He then attended The Wharton School, where he
graduated with an MBA in Entrepreneurship. While at Wharton, David spent
the summer as an internal strategist with Rohm and Haas, traveled to Peru
to advise a consumer textiles company on a US market entry strategy, and
consulted with Teach for America on how to optimize their recruitment process.
David serves on the Board of Directors for Red Lasso and is a board
observer of Melior Discovery and HardMetrics.
Bill
Hamilton, PhD. - Ralph Landau Professor of Management and Technology
Dr.
Hamilton has served on the University of Pennsylvania faculty since 1967
and is the Landau Professor of Management and Technology and the Director
of the Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology at The Wharton
School and the School of Engineering and Applied Science. He also serves
as a director of the following life-sciences companies: Neose Technology,
Inc. (Nasdaq: NTEC ), NovaDel Pharma, Inc. (Amex: NVD) and Neuronyx (a
privately-held leader in stem cell technologies), and previously served
as a Director of Centocor, Inc. prior to its acquisition by Johnson &
Johnson. Dr. Hamilton received his B.S., M.S. (chemical engineering) and
M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and his Ph.D. in applied
economics from the London School of Economics
James
Huang - Entrepreneur in Residence, Vivo Ventures With 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical
industry, James joined Vivo Ventures from Anesiva, where he has served as
president since September 2005. He joined Anesiva from Tularik Inc.,
where he held the position of vice president of business development and
commercial operations. Prior to Tularik, Mr. Huang was product director
of Avandia and diabetes at SmithKline Beecham PLC (now GlaxoSmithKline)
where he launched Avandia. Mr. Huang also held various positions in
Bristol-Myers Squibb's Worldwide Strategic Product Planning, Managed Care
and Sales and Marketing organizations, and research and development
positions at Alza Corporation. James received an M.B.A. from Stanford
Graduate School of Business and earned a B.S. degree in Chemical
Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.
Greg
Vontz, CEO, Topica Pharmaceuticals Greg
Vontz brings over 20 years of experience in biopharmaceutical industry.
He began his career with Merck & Company and then spent 12 years with
Genentech, Inc. leading their cardiovascular franchise through 1999.
Following Genentech, Mr. Vontz spent seven years at Connetics, Inc. a
public specialty pharmaceutical company focused on dermatology, where his
most recent role was as President & Chief Operating Officer prior to
the company s acquisition in late 2006 by Stiefel Laboratories. During
his time at Connetics, Greg was responsible for Sales & Marketing,
Research, Development, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Quality and Human
Resources with over 350 total personnel under management. In addition to
his operating experience, Mr. Vontz has also served as director of a
public company, most recently for Adeza Biomedical.
